Yale-New Haven Hospital has a special breed of volunteers. They are volunteers who visit patients with their dogs, bringing wagging tails and enjoyment wherever they go. Wearing special red Volunteer Services doggie jackets, the dogs are specially trained to be at ease in the hospital environment and with patients of all ages. Volunteer Services recently celebrated its canine corps of ten teams. Taking a “paws” for a photo at the party are (l-r): Daisy and Nancy Hoskins; Eileen Flynn-Ricci and Rolo; Patricia Garland, on the floor; Annie Kaplan, program coordinator, Volunteer Services, holding Garland’s Dolly; Linda Isaacs and Alexandra; Deborah Wittes with Bentley; Mary Kuruc with Axel; and Jeannette Hodge, director, Patient Relations, Volunteer and Guest Services.
