Donations benefit overflow shelter in time for winter

NEW HAVEN — The overflow shelter will open at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, as fundraising continues in an effort to keep doors open through the winter.

If and when the Cedar Street shelter would open this year had been unknown following city-wide budget cuts that left just $60,000 from a $258,865 budget.
