Business New Haven Honors Two YNHH Heroes in Health Care
Business New Haven, a local business publication, recently honored Ingrid M. Crocco, RN, charge nurse, South Pavilion Operating Rooms, and staff nurse on the Transplant Team, and volunteer Walter T. Bailey, Sr., as two of its 2008 Healthcare Heroes. Crocco and Bailey were among 13 greater New Haven individuals and institutions nominated by peers, co-workers and patients for extraordinary contributions to the healthcare industry. Crocco, a 29-year YNHH veteran, volunteers during vacations as a medical missionary and assists medical teams performing surgery on burn victims and children with facial deformities. She will go on her 17th medical mission in February to Varanasi, India. For the past 25 years, Bailey has served as a volunteer substance-abuse counselor in the Adult Emergency Department, where he has logged more than 40,000 hours.
