YNHH and Panera Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Yale-New Haven Hospital is working to make all employees aware of the importance breast health and increase mammography screenings of female staff.
Mammograms are covered at 100 percent for employees who are enrolled in the Advantage or Advantage Plus medical plans.
On Wednesday, October 8, employees may stop by the locations listed below to receive information about breast health, the importance of screenings and where they can get a mammogram.
Throughout October, employees can support the Yale-New Haven Breast Center by purchasing a Pink Ribbon Bagel at Panera Bread, a corporate partner with YNHH. For every one of the signature ribbon-shaped bagels it sells, Panera will donate $.25 to the Breast Center which will use the money for educational materials, support and recovery devices for patients.
The bagels that support the Breast Center will be sold in the Panera bakery-cafés located in Hamden, North Haven, Milford, Shelton, Norwalk, Darien, Meriden, Brookfield, Newtown, Waterbury and Torrington.
"It is really important during the month of October to remind women about breast health awareness," said Shirley Pinette, manager of the Breast Center. "We hope employees will visit the hospital display nearest to them on October 8 and learn about breast self-exams and the importance of regular mammograms. We also encourage employees to support the Breast Center by buying at least one Pink Ribbon Bagel at Panera Bread. Our patients are grateful for their support."
